Dartan LIneage
The DARTAN bloodlines will cross well with any of the present Shagya-Arabian mares in the USA or Canada. In addition, this is an excellent horse for purebred Arabian or Anglo mares due to his size, frame and bone. He offers excellent gaits to Warmblood mares without the sacrifice of bone or frame. His disposition and correctness is a benefit to any breeding program.
DARTAN's sire-line goes back to the Arabian stallion Dahoman db, born 1846. The Dahoman line typically brings a strong frame, excellent bone, toughness and endurance. The Shagya-Arabian stallion Daru, the sire of DARTAN, represents this Dahoman line and sired significant sires including the stallions Temp and Trapper used as chief stallions at the Kabiuk Shagya-Arabian stud in Bulgaria. Pictures of Temp show the great sporthorse type of the Dahoman sire-line: https://issuu.com/shagya-horses/docs/pshr_news_summer_2011_122411
DARTAN's maternal grand-sire, Radautz [Shagya XX-23] was an athletic bay stallion bred in Topolcianky. Radautz was a successful show jumper and L level dressage competitor in Europe. Radautz was also used for Anglo-Arabian breeding. A number of daughters (not purebred ShA) have been used in the Danish Warmblood breeding program.
The greatest influence for the stallion Radautz in the Shagya-Arabian breed is seen mostly through a number of daughters of very quality he produced.
One such daughter, Sobo's Tandarra the dam of DARTAN, is a lovely bay mare with the maternal grand-sire being the famous century stallion Gazal VII. Her dam line is the popular 74 Tifle db, born 1816. His son Raon (Radautz x Samirah x Bajar) was used in Denmark, Germany and especially in Austria. Radautz had quite an impact on the Austrian breeding program, through both his grandsons and -daughters.
